I am a trained mediator and a member of the panel of mediators approved by the United States District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania.

My nearly forty years as a litigator representing both plaintiffs and defendants in all manner of civil cases enables me to see that there is usually some merit to the positions of parties on both sides of a dispute and to recognize the value in resolving lawsuits early on.  I have also represented parties in mediation proceedings and had an opportunity to see what works and what does not.

In addition, my extensive appellate experience gives me a perspective on the additional time, expense and uncertainty that are often involved in resolving cases after they have been “finally” decided by a trial judge or gone to verdict.

I view mediation as an important part of the dispute resolution process; one that can allow parties to achieve their underlying goals with certainty and without the necessity of expensive and protracted litigation.
